Course Objectives:

  1. Understand the need to elevate health professional education utilizing the Master Adaptive Learner Framework
  2. Distinguish the 4 characteristics that allow the adaptive learner to thrive
  3. Describe the cycle of self - regulated learning and how it mirror's the 4 stages of the MAL framework
  4. Integrate the concept of adaptive expertise to foster innovation
    needed in healthcare practice
  5. Apply the Master Adaptive Learner (MAL) framework to real classroom and clinical teaching scenarios using a coaching mindset.

  6. Differentiate teaching, mentoring, and coaching and select the appropriate approach to support adaptive learning.

  7. Coach learners through each phase of the MAL cycle (Planning, Learning, Assessing, Adjusting) in both didactic and clinical environments.

  8. Intentionally foster the four MAL qualities — curiosity, motivation, mindset, and resilience — using evidence-informed coaching strategies.

  9. Design learning environments that normalize uncertainty, promote psychological safety, and strengthen uncertainty tolerance.
