Coming Soon: Building Blocks to Advance Concussion Management Strategies for Optimal Outcomes
The Next Course in Our 3-Part Concussion Management Series
At Blissfully in Balance, our mission is to bridge the gap between evidence and clinical practice by providing practical, clinically relevant continuing education for rehabilitation professionals. Following the success of our foundational concussion management course, we are excited to announce the upcoming release of the second course in our comprehensive 3-part concussion education series:
Building Blocks to Advance Concussion Management Strategies for Optimal Outcomes
Instructors:
- Becky Bliss, PT, DPT, DHSc
- Alex Peters, PT, DPT, ATC
- Andrew Teare-Ketter, PT, DPT
Course Length: 7 Hours
Advancing Beyond the Basics
Managing concussion becomes increasingly challenging when symptoms persist, recovery trajectories deviate from expectations, or multiple contributing factors overlap. This intermediate-level course is designed for rehabilitation professionals ready to move beyond foundational concepts and develop more advanced clinical reasoning and intervention strategies.
Participants will explore complex clinical presentations frequently encountered in practice, including exertional intolerance, cervicogenic symptom contributors, sensory-motor dysfunction, headache management, and return-to-sport decision-making. The course also addresses the increasingly recognized role of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) overlay and provides practical strategies for differentiating these presentations from prolonged concussion recovery.
Through evidence-based instruction, clinical demonstrations, interactive learning activities, and case-based application, participants will gain actionable tools to improve confidence and effectiveness when managing individuals with persisting post-concussive symptoms.
What You'll Learn
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between persisting post-concussive symptoms and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) overlay to inform appropriate clinical management.
- Explain the role and clinical value of dual-task assessment in the evaluation and progression of patients recovering from concussion.
- Conduct a detailed examination of the cervical spine, including assessment and intervention strategies for cervicogenic contributions to post-concussion symptoms.
- Develop safe and evidence-based return-to-sport plans that account for clinical trajectory, exertional readiness, and functional demands.
- Identify common headache phenotypes following concussion and apply targeted management strategies aligned with each type.
- Perform a comprehensive assessment of exertional intolerance and implement appropriate progression strategies to restore physical capacity.
- Design and apply full sensory-motor interventions tailored to the individual's clinical profile and recovery phase using case-based clinical reasoning.
